The Official Concept Magazine

$50.00

This edition of The Official Concept Magazine, under the editorial direction of Allan Campbell, examines people who changed course and remained with the work long enough for it to become theirs. The issue is concerned with timing, nerve, and the difference between sounding like someone and being someone.

The features follow five working lives. Jack Topalian left an established career in business and construction to act in his forties, bringing that composure to Naz in HBO’s Euphoria and Teddy Garnikian in Apple TV+’s Sugar. Mira Housey moved from classical piano to writing, recording, and producing her own songs after a filmed studio-floor take circulated widely, then tested those private lines on The Tonight Show, on tour, and at BottleRock. Anthony “Citric” Campos did not campaign for King of the Hill; he answered a request for a voice reel and found Emilio, Bobby Hill’s sous-chef, by listening rather than forcing the part. Alex Grech has lived inside Awaiting Evaluation since a high-school class on Beckett in 2017, writing, co-directing, and performing the play from a black box through Teatro Latea and Edinburgh. Jo Berenson intended to write, learned stage management in a day, and became a producer by treating the company as the production itself.
